Funeral services for Mr. Donald Bryan, 62, of Dickens, will be held at 10:30 a.m., today, Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, at Grace United Methodist Church of Spencer. Rev. Paul Hansen will officiate the service.

Interment will take place at Logan Township Cemetery in Gillett Grove at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are to be given to the Abben Cancer Center or the Clay County Fair Charitable Foundation.

Donald passed away Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, near his home in Dickens.

Donald Loyd Bryan, the son of Wesley and Margaret (Porter) Bryan, was born Dec. 4, 1944, at the Spencer Hospital in Spencer. He was baptized and confirmed in the Congregational Church of Greenville. Don attended Greenville-Rossie Consolidated School and graduated in 1962. He also studied agriculture at Iowa State University.

Don married Linda Orwig on Nov. 6, 1966, in the Grace United Methodist Church of Spencer. They farmed in the Dickens and Ruthven areas until the present time. Don was an active member of the Dickens United Methodist Church, where he served as a lay leader and also was a lay speaker. He worked for the Clay County Fair for 40 years and served on the Executive Board for the past 10 years. He devoted countless volunteer hours to the fair.  He also served on the Boards of Dickens Elevator, Farmer's Co-op Elevator of Ruthven, Ruthven Co-op Oil Company, and Farmland Board of Directors. Don also served in the 194th Unit of the National Guard of Spencer.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Don is survived by his wife, Linda; three children: Michael and his wife, Jackie of Spencer, Mark and his wife, Julie of Elizabeth, Ill., and Michele Christ and her husband, Shawn of Moline, Ill.; seven grandchildren; one sister, Beverly Kenobbie and her husband, Blaine of Kennebec, S.D.; and his twin brother, Ron and his wife, June of Storm Lake.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
