Funeral Services for Mrs. Birdie Meree Jacobson were held Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, at the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids. Rev. Tonna Parsons officiated. Interment will be in Lone Tree Cemetery at Sioux Rapids.

Birdie Meree, 90, of Sioux Rapids, passed away Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, at Sioux Care Center in Sioux Rapids.

Birdie Meree Fast was born Sept. 26, 1916, in Barton County, Mo. to Kiley May (Rickman) Fast and Claudie Marion Fast. She was raised in that area and received her teaching degree there. She taught for a short time before meeting her future husband.

Floyd and Meree were married May 26, 1938, at the Jacobson Farm near Sioux Rapids. Their union was blessed with four children: Charlie Marion, Roger Dale, Thomas Floyd and Janice Eileen. Roger Dale died shortly after he was born.

Meree, which she preferred to be called, was very active in the farming operation.

Meree was active in her local church, serving on the Ladies Aid as well as other committees. Meree and Floyd chose to take classes at the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids and were baptized there.

Meree entered the Sioux Care Center in the spring of 2002. It was there she passed away.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son; brother, Barton; and son-in-law Glen Trebesch.

Meree is survived by her children: Charlie and Bonnie of Mankato, Minn.; Thomas and Pam of Sioux Rapids; and Janice Trebesch of Linn Grove; and five grandchildren.

The Sliefert Funeral Home of Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.
