Funeral services for Matilda Vander Tuig, 87, of Primghar, were held Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, at American Reformed Church of Primghar. Rev. Dennis Hietbrink officiated the service.

Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery of Primghar.

Matilda passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2007 at the Primghar Care Center.

Matilda Vander Tuig, the daughter of Bill and Grace (Uittenbogaard) Kreykes, was born June 6, 1920, in Hospers. She received her education at the Hospers Christian Schools in Hospers. On Oct. 9, 1941, she was united in marriage to Mitch Vander Tuig in Sanborn. The couple settled in Primghar, where they lived their entire married life. She enjoyed being a homemaker and a mother. The couple enjoyed traveling and for 22 years they wintered in Arizona. Matilda moved to the Primghar Care Center to make her home in January of 2001. She was a member of the American Reformed Church in Primghar. She taught Sunday school, catechism and Bible School for many years and was active in the Reformed Church Women's Ministries.

She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Kathy Vander Tuig; her parents; two brothers: Arnold and Harold; and three brothers-in-law: Bud Wilch, Richard Admire and Harold Winkel.

Matilda is survived by her husband of 65 years, Mitch of Primghar; children: Larry Vander Tuig of Gilbert, Ariz.; Linda Walvoord and her husband, Doug of Primghar; Bob Vander Tuig and his wife, Becky of Spencer; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill Kreykes and his wife, Jean of Eastham, Mass.; four sisters: Arlene Rota and her husband, Mike of Seal Beach, Calif., Edna Winkel of Sheldon, Betty Crosby and her husband, Jim of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Bonnie Admire of Primghar; and a sister-in-law, Ida Kreykes of Sanborn.

Memorials may be directed to the Primghar Care Center.

Arrangements were under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home of Primghar.
