Walter and Emma Bloom
A memorial service for Walter and Emma Bloom will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Sept. 17, 2007 at Grace United Methodist Church Chapel.
Walter F. Bloom pased away Nov. 20, 2006, one month after Emma J. Bloom passed away Sunday, Oct. 22. Emma was born in Osceola on Jan. 19, 1914 and Walter was born in Renwick on Dec. 1, 1910.
Both Walter and Emma graduated from Iowa State Teachers' College. There they met and married following their graduation. They were married in Princeton, Missouri in 1933.
Walter taught history, shop, and coached in Lake Park, Iowa and Spencer, Iowa and Emma taught country school. Following this, he operated a wholesale food distribution business for many years.
Walter and Emma raised their children in Spencer. Walter servedhis community on the city council and The Grace Methodist Church. Together they made their home at La Cresta Estates in Colorado Springs for the last 28 years.
Walter and Emma are survived by their son, Dr. Gary Bloom, Colorado Springs; two daughters: Barbara Bloom, Syracuse, N.Y. and Sharon Beaman, Tucson, Ariz.; four granddaughters, two grandsons, and seven great-grandsons.
