Funeral services for George C. Hoyt, 82 will be held at 10:30 a.m., today, Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Milford. Rev. Kenneth Seifried will officiate the service.
Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery of Milford.
Graveside rites will be performed by Milford American Legion.
George passed away Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.
George was born March 7, 1925 at Missouri Valley to David Fletcher Hoyt and Sadie (Sims) Hoyt. A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to the end of the war.
On April 21, 1948 he was married to Rosalie Duhn at Graettinger. George worked for John Morrell Co. in Estherville for 10 years, owned a meat market in Ringsted for several years, was employed at Spencer Foods for 29 years, then owned and operated George's Can and Bottle Redemption Center in Milford until retirement.
He was member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford and a 61-year member of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gwendolyn Stueve; son, Mervin; and son-in-law, Lorn Napp.
George is survived by his wife, Rosalie; sons: Michael Hoyt and wife, Dianne and Martin Hoyt - all of Spencer; daughters: Marlyn Napp of Fort Dodge; Marcia Gamble and husband, Marvin of Vermillion, S.D., and Marie Johnson and husband, Tom of Spencer; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Dona Dahlberg of Estherville, and Dema Janssen of Algona.
