Memorial services were held on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 1:30 p.m. at the Congregational United Church of Christ for Huldah Phelps Bacon. Rev. Brad Larson and Rev. Cynthia Huse officiated at this service.

Her final resting place will, be at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.

Huldah, 83, passed away on Sept. 6, 2007, in Madison, Minn. Huldah was born Aug. 9, 1924, to parents Leland and Blanche (Titus) Phelps in Spencer. She was baptized on June 1, 1925 by the Rev. J. Trickey at the Congreational Church in Spencer. Huldah graduated from Spencer High School in 1942. She furthered her education graduating from Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri and attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. She married Joe Bacon on August 31, 1946. They had three sons. The family moved to Madison in 1954.

Huldah worked for many years as the secretary of Madison Elementary School. She was a member of the Eastern Star. She was active in her community, volunteering at Madison Lutheran Home, the Lac qui Parle County Fair, the Madison Food Shelf and at the Congregational United Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Huldah is survived by her sons: Brent Bacon and wife, ,Connie of Madison, Minn., Robert Bacon and wife, Nancy of Emily, Min., and Bradley Bacon and wife, Beth of Reliance, S.D.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Leanne Namur of Alexandria, Minn.
