Walter passed away Nov. 20, 2006.
Walter was born in Renwick on Dec. 1, 1910.
Both Walter and Emma, his wife, graduated from Iowa State Teachers' College. There they met and married following their graduation. They were married in Princeton, Mo. in 1933.
Walter taught history and shop, and coached in Lake Park and Spencer. Following his teaching years, he operated a wholesale food distribution business for many years. Walter and Emma raised their children in Spencer. Walter was extremely hard working and dedicated to his family, also serving his community on the city council and The Grace Methodist Church.
Together they made their home at La Cresta Estates in Colorado Springs for the last 28 years.
Walter is survived by his son, Dr. Gary Bloom, Colorado Springs; and two daughters: Barbara Bloom, Syracuse, N.Y. and Sharon Beaman, Tucson, Ariz.; four granddaughters; two grandsons; and seven great-grandsons.
