Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Stephas, 61 of Spencer will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 20, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Spencer. Rev. Brent Lingle will officiate the service.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 5-7 p.m. at the Warner Funeral Home of Spencer.

A Catholic Vigil Service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Warner Funeral Home of Spencer.

Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery of Spencer.

Elizabeth passed away Friday, Aug. 17, 2007 at home in Spencer.

Casket bearers will be Mike Meyer, Ted Thomas, Dale Stephas, Chris Nielsen, Tim Tielbur and Wayne Stephas.

Elizabeth, the daughter of Wilbur and Grace Smock Schulze, was born Sept. 7, 1945 in Sherburn, Minn. Her childhood years were spent in Sherburn, where she received her elementary education. Her family moved to Spencer, Iowa, where she attended Sacred Heart Catholic School during her middle school years and later graduated from Spencer High School.

Elizabeth married Orville E. Stephas on June 6, 1969 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. Following their marriage, they continued to live in Spencer, where she worked at St. Luke Lutheran Home until her retirement in September of 2004 after 25 years of employment. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Elizabeth also was a Girl Scout leader and was active in the bowling league.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grace and Wilbur Schulze; two grandchildren: Adam Stephas and Margarita Martinez; and a nephew, Thomas Tielbur.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Orville of Spencer; daughter, Jody Martinez and her husband, Oscar of Storm Lake; son, Troy Stephas and his wife, Diane of North Mankato, Minn.; four grandchildren; and two sisters: Patricia Stonacek and her husband, Edward (Bud) of Clarkson, Neb., and Kathleen Tielbur and her husband, Harvey of Spencer.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
