Funeral services for Ardis W. Gopperton, 94, of Peterson, will be held at 2 p.m., today, Tuesday, Aug. 14, at United Methodist Church of Peterson. Rev. Roger Maize will officiate the service.

Interment will take place at Oakland Cemetery of Peterson.

An Eastern Star Service took place Monday evening at Warner Funeral Home of Peterson.

Mrs. Gopperton passed away Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, at Countryside Estates in Cherokee.

Casket bearers will be Jim Waggoner, Andy Bents, Bud Downer, Charles Gopperton, Dennis Hill and David Gopperton.

Ardis W. Gopperton, the daughter of Allen and Ruby (Pierce) Stoner, was born on Dec. 22, 1912, near Peterson. She received her early education attending country school near Peterson and then moved to Spencer where she lived with her grandparents and attended high school.

On Jan. 20, 1933, Ardis married Charles 'Bill' Gopperton in Peterson. Following their marriage, they farmed northwest of Peterson until their retirement in 1968. Ardis was very involved helping Charles on the farm and raising their four children. Ardis was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star and O.A.O. Club in Peterson, which was a ladies community service club. She was active in UMW church circle.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles, in 1983 and two sisters.

Ardis is survived by her two sons: Robert Gopperton and his wife, Frieda of Britt, and Roger Gopperton and his wife, Kary of Sutherland; two daughters: Norma Hoke and her husband, Anton of Woodland, Calif., and Brenda Oliphant and her husband, Gary of Des Moines; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Robert Stoner of Omaha, Neb.

Warner Funeral Home of Peterson is in charge of arrangements.
