Services for H. Robert (Bob) Fairchild will be held at 10:30 a.m., today, Friday, Aug. 10, at Turner Funeral Home of Milford. Rev. Doug Dingle will officiate the service.

A private family service will be held for interment.

Bob passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, at his home after a short illness.

Bob was born Nov. 2, 1930, at Terril, to Enos and Bess Fairchild. He received his education at Terril Community School, Estherville Junior College and Buena Vista College.

On July 11, 1958, he was married to Mary Margaret Griffin at Terril. They lived in the Terril area where they farmed and he did crop adjusting for Farm Bureau. Bob served in the U. S. Army in Korea and was a member of the American Legion Walsh Post 432 of Terril.

He was the "official team grandpa" for the state championship Graettinger-Terril basketball team.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; parents, Enos and Bess Fairchild; brother, Dan Fairchild; and parents-in-law, Lloyd and Iva Griffin.

Bob is survived by his children: Micki Bradburn and husband, Steve of Estherville, Spike Fairchild and wife, Roxanne of Arnolds Park, Sara Laidig and husband, Dennis of Terril, and Susy Ostrum and husband, Keith of Spirit Lake; brother, Estel Fairchild and wife, Audrey of Spencer; sisters: Mary Louise Plautz of Iowa City, Jean Bridson of Storm Lake, Phylis Bridson and husband, Keith of Clive; nine grandchildren; and two-great grandchildren.

Turner Funeral Home of Milford is in charge of arrangements.
