John 'Jack' A. Rorah

John "Jack" A. Rorah, 97, of Spencer, passed away Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007, at the Longhouse Residence Nursing Home in Spencer.

A graveside service will be Monday, Aug. 13, at 11 a.m. at Northlawn Cemetery in Spencer.

Jack was born on May 5, 1910, in Menlo, to William Edward and Oma (Millinman) Rorah. Jack was united in marriage to Violet Christensen on Sept. 18, 1935, in Spencer. Jack served his country in the United States Army. He worked for Nesbitt Bottling Company, MayTag, the Hamburger Shop, Jack Rorah Trucking, Jack Rorah Used Car Lot, and the Spencer Police Department. Jack was a member of the V.F.W. for 62 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Elmer Rorah; and a sister, Emma Lou Engelhart.

Jack is survived by his wife, Violet Rorah of Spencer; three daughters: Elizabeth Brown of Naples, Fla., Nancy Soucek of Spencer, and Mary Corry of Houston, Texas; a son, John Rorah Jr. of Schuyler, Neb.; a sister, Irma Runkle of Spencer; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
