Funeral services for Mr. Paul Peterson, 83, of Sutherland, will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Royal. Rev. Tonna Parsons will officiate the service.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Royal.
Interment will take place at Remsen City Cemetery in Remsen.
Paul passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at Spencer Hospital.
Casketbearers will be Christopher Woodall, Charles Woodall, Keith Kruse, Mike Johnson, Steve Peters and Chuck Peters.
Paul, the son of Peter and Alma (Soe) Petersen, was born Feb. 27, 1924, in Marcus. He received his early education in a country school near Marcus and later he attended the Marcus High School where he graduated.
Paul was baptized and confirmed at the Nazareth Lutheran Church of Marcus. Paul then entered the United States Marines and served in China and Guam from Aug. 22, 1944, to Aug. 25, 1946, during W.W.II. Following his honorable discharge, Paul returned to farm near Remsen and Marcus until 1955. In 1956, he moved to a farm near Sutherland. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers: Harold and Donald.
He is survived by several cousins and his close friends.
