Funeral services for Mr. Harvey Eugene Baxter Sr. 76 of Langdon, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 23, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Spencer. Rev. Brent Lingle will officiate the service.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday with the family present.

A Catholic Vigil Service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday at Warner Chapel.

Harvey passed away Thursday, July 19, 2007 at his home.

Honorary casket bearers will be Cecil Casky, George Koenig, Jason Cheffin, Gene Rusch, Dick Clausing and Roger Long.

Casket bearers will be Tim Wittrock, Tony Wittrock, Justin Baxter, Tyler Baxter, Joe Mohr, John Gidley and Steven Spory.

Interment will be held at North Lawn Memorial Park of Spencer.

Harvey, the son of Cecil and Marie Conlon Baxter, was born May 10, 1931 in Ruthven. His childhood years were spent in Ayrshire, where he received his early education, graduating from Ayrshire High School.

Harvey married Esther Henaman on Nov. 13, 1950 in Jackson, Minn. Following their marriage, they lived in Ayrshire, Gillett Grove before moving to their home in Langdon, and he worked at Spencer Foods Packing Plant for 28 years. Following their closing, he worked for Dekalb Research for 11 years, until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. Harvey was also a past member of the Moose Lodge and a current member of the Farm Bureau.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson, Todd Wittrock.

Harvey is survived by his wife, Esther of Langdon; his children: Rebecca Wittrock and her husband, Mike of Spirit Lake, Harvey Baxter, Jr. and his wife, Joan of Langdon, Jane Baxter of Linn Grove, Bradley Baxter and his wife, Lisa of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Daren Baxter and his wife, Lisa of Spencer; 14 grandchildren; two great grandsons; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Richard Baxter and his wife, Sandra of Algona; and a sister, Elizabeth Janssen and her husband, Phillip of Ayrshire.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
