Irma Clausen, 87, of Spencer passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at Spencer Hospital. Funeral services will be held today, Saturday, July 14, 2007 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Spencer. Rev. David Doellinger will officiate the 10:30 a.m. service. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.
Casket bearers will include Jerry Beck, Dan Weinstock, Jim Paulson, Mike Hatting, Kevin Kospice, Dustin Clausen and Dean Garms.
Mrs. Clausen, the daughter of Otto and Elsie (Schoelerman) Garms, was born Dec. 13, 1919 in Royal. Her childhood years were spent in Moneta, where she received her education and graduated from Moneta High School. She later attended a business college for one year.
She married Arlan Clausen on Feb. 14, 1946 in Royal. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Spencer area. She served as a deputy county clerk for 20 years, was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Royal, and was active in the church women's group. Following the closing of Trinity Lutheran Church, Mrs. Clausen transferred her membership to Christ the King Lutheran Church in Spencer.
Mrs. Clausen was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Luetta Rossiter, brothers John and Richard Garms, and brother-in-law Donald Rossiter.
Irma Clausen is survived by her husband, Arlan, of Spencer, three sons: Otto and his wife, Judy, of Bluffton, Ind., Jerry Clausen of Spencer, and Jon Clausen and his wife, LaRae, of Sioux Falls; a daughter, Ann Sahraie, and her husband, Saboor, of Slatehill, N.Y.; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends.
