Interment will take place at Garfield Cemetery of Webb
A lunch will be served at the First Congregational Church immediately following the funeral services. Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m.
Dorothy passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at Spencer Hospital.
Casket bearers will be Barry Hoover, Jeff Hoover, Brook Hoover, Alex Hoover, Mark Forry, Mitch Forry, Mike Forry, Brandon Black and Galen Maiden.
Dorothy was born on March 5, 1910 to May and Ernest Belknap on a farm southwest of Webb. She attended and graduated from Webb School in 1928.
She married Raymond Hoover on July 28, 1928. They were blessed with four children. They farmed in the Ayrshire and Marathon communities during their life together. Raymond passed away in March of 1971. Dorothy moved to Sioux Rapids and was employed at the Sioux Care Center. During her years, she worked as a team member to provide the residents with the best quality of life possible.
Shortly after her retirement, Dorothy moved to The Highlands in Spencer. In the fall of 2005, she transferred to Riverview Terrace and was living there when she became ill.
During her life, she was an active member of the Methodist Church of Webb, the United Methodist Church of Marathon, the First United Church of Sioux Rapids and most recently was a member of the First Congregational Church of Spencer. She served on many committees, was a member of the U.M.W. and the Women's Fellowship. She was also a charter member of the Happy 12 Club and remained a member for almost 60 years. Just recently, she organized a 500-card club with some of her fellow residents at Riverview Terrace.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Hoover; her parents; an infant son; and her sisters: Wilda Curry and Catherine Schober.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Jerry Lou Howe of Marathon, Gordon Hoover and his wife, Beverly of Ft. Dodge, Shirley Forry and her husband, Jim of Sparta, Ga. and Cliff Hoover and his wife, Bonnie of Spencer; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
