Motorcycle enthusiasts mark Saturday, July 21 on the calendar for the Fifth Annual Iowa Lakes Foundation Scholarship Poker Ride.
roceeds from this ride benefit students from the five-county
college district with scholarships to attend Iowa Lakes Community
College. The event takes riders to the five college campuses for fun,
food, and activities. The ride begins at the Emmetsburg campus with registration from 8:30-9:30 a.m. The registration fee includes a t-shirt with new ride logo (for first 250 riders), snacks, lunch, door prizes, and poker hand.
Continuing to the Algona campus, riders will be invited to participate in a balloon launch game. At the Estherville campus riders will be refreshed with fruit, and bottled water will be available at all campuses. The Spirit Lake campus will welcome all riders with a game. The ride will end in air conditioned comfort with lunch, served 11 a.m.-1p.m., door prizes, poker hand dealing, and contest winners
announced at the Spencer campus.
Riders will have the opportunity to participate in the Oldest and/or Youngest Rider Contest, raffle (for items donated by area businesses and individuals) and a checkerboard game to win four tickets to the Iowa Speedway for the Hooters Pro-Cup Series on Sept. 22. New to
this year's ride is a raffle for a MCT Motorcycle Trailer, retail value $1,820. Tickets are $20 each or 3 for $50 and winner will be announced at the end of the ride; the winner does not need to be present to win.
