Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Mary Glaser, 99, of Hartley, will be held at 10:30 a.m., today, Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at Trinity United Church of Christ of Hartley. Rev. Steve Campbell will officiate the service.

Visitation will begin one hour prior to the services at the church.

Interment will take place at Pleasant View Cemetery of Hartley.

Helen passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2007, at Community Memorial Health Center of Hartley.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to the American Heart Association.

Casket bearers will be John Glaser, Michael Glaser, Steve Glaser, Mark Glaser, Verlus Pippert and Greg Glaser.

Helen, the daughter of William and Margaret (Springman) Slinger, was born Feb. 13, 1914, in Archer, and was the fifth of 10 children. Her childhood years were spent in the rural Primghar area, where she received her education in rural O'Brien County Schools and later graduated from Primghar High School in 1931. 

Helen married Fred Glaser on Feb. 5, 1936, in Spencer. They lived on several farms in the county and then bought a farm south of Hartley in 1946, where they raised their two sons, Gene and Arvon.  In 1965, they sold the farm and moved into Hartley, where Helen worked as a nurse's aid for several years before retiring.

She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley.  Helen also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the KLIO Club.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred on February 5, 2004; five brothers: William, Herman, Edward, Jake and Henry Slinger; and three sisters: Martha Jipp, Marcella Jacobs and Margaret Krumm.

Helen is survived by her two sons: Gene Glaser and his wife, Patricia of Richardson, Texas and Arvon Glaser of Overland Park, Kan.; five grandsons; and four great-granddaughters.

Warner Funeral Home of Hartley is in charge of arrangements.
