Funeral services for Greg Nissen, 53, of Tuscon, Ariz., formerly of Marshalltown, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 8, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. Rev. Gregg Davison will officiate the service.
Friends and family may call at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. today.
Greg passed away Thursday, May 31, 2007, at his home in Tuscon.
He will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown with flag presentation honors by the American Legion Frank Lewis Glick Post No. 46.
Born on Aug. 17, 1953, in Spencer, he was the son of Harold and Gladys (Johnson) Nissen. He graduated from Spencer High School in 1971. He attended junior college in California before serving our country honorably in the United States Air Force.
On Nov. 28, 1981, in Spencer, he was united in marriage to Vickie Gardner. They made Marshalltown their home for many years where he was employed by Prudential Insurance Company. Seven months ago, the couple moved to Tucson, where he was a financial service professional for New York Life.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Greg is survived by his wife of 25 years, Vickie; two sons: Eric and his wife Haley and their first grandchild due in October of Marshalltown and Brett of Tucson, Arizona; his granddaughter; his siblings: Denny and the late Molly of Spencer, Ronnie and his wife, Robbin of Laurens; Delores Koehlmoos and her husband, Frank of Des Moines, Dori Beck of West Okoboji, Steve and his wife, Pat of Spencer, and Dave of Spencer; and his sisters in law: Peggy Gardner of Lake Park, and Debra Gardner of Storm Lake.
