Doug Alan Beacom, 51 of Elkhorn, Neb., formerly of Sioux Rapids passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at the emergency room of Midlands Hospital in Papillion, Neb.
Doug was born on Nov. 27, 1955 in Sioux City to Martin and Joan (Coan) Beacom. He grew up in Hubbard, Neb. where he attended grade school and graduated from Emerson-Hubbard High School in 1974 before attending Midland Lutheran College for two years.
Doug married Cathy Lynn Evans on Dec. 7, 1973 in Elk Point, S.D. and to this union five children were born: Alison, Brent, Eric, Holly and Aaron. Doug and Cathy have raised their family in the Emerson/Wakefield area and Sioux Rapids before coming to Elkhorn, Neb. last year.
Doug was self employed in the poultry business. He was a member of the National Egg Producers, Nebraska Poultry Producers and the Midwest Poultry Producers.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Doug is survived by wife Cathy; sons: Brent and his wife, Meggan, Eric and his wife, Dawn and Aaron -- all of Omaha; daughters: Alison Gustafson of Wakefield, Neb. and Holly Beacom and her fiancée, Bill Goodman of Omaha, Neb.; six grandchildren; brother, Dick and his wife, LuAnn of Ottumwa; and sister Diane Mast and her husband, Kevin of Austin, Texas.
