Recognizing AmeriCorps Week by volunteering

(Photo submitted) In recognition of AmeriCorps Week, members of the Northwest Iowa Youth AmeriCorps program organized a yard cleanup around Spencer on Saturday, May 19. Fifteen volunteers form AmeriCorps, RSVP Student Volunteers and the Aktion Club pulled weeds, pruned bushes, spread mulch, and planted flowers in seven area yards. Services and supplies were paid for in part by a grant from the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service, and donations from Sunshine Services, Inc. and Inukshuk Technologies, Inc.
