Richard Harold Barber, 87, of Linden, formerly of Marathon and Schaller, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2007, at his home in Linden.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake.

Interment will follow at the Storm Lake Cemetery.

Richard was born on Sept. 6, 1919, to Harold and Ruth (Jeffries) Barber in Spencer. He lived with his family in Spencer where he attended grade school and later graduated from Spencer High School in 1937.

During World War II, Richard served his country in the United State Army, during which time he was stationed in England.

On March 30, 1941, Richard was united in marriage to Ethel L. Larson. This union was blessed with two children: Mary and Rick.

Richard spent most of his life in the Marathon area. He lived the last six years in an apartment in Linden. Richard was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ruth; his wife, Ethel; two brothers: Bob and Archie; and one sister, Irene Firebaugh.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Mary J. Archer and her husband, Lyle; his son, Richard L. Barber and his wife, Joan; four grandsons, and seven great-grandchildren.

The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
