Visitation will be held after 3 p.m. on Wednesday in Manning.
Interment will be held at Manning Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Clark Tibben, Kent Hugeback, Kevin Hospelhorn, Gene Grade, Jay Drees, Joea Kemper, Scott Linde, LeRoy Irlbeck and in memoriam, Mike Culligan.
Honorary casket bearers are all of Mike's nieces and nephews.
Mike passed away at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Ft. Dodge on Saturday, May 12, 2007. In June of 2004 Mike was diagnosed with a rare Para-chordoma tumor. There were numerous hospitalizations before his death.
Michael W, son of Alvin and Rita (Dentlinger) Ferneding, was born Sept. 2, 1955, at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll. He grew up on a farm northwest of Templeton and attended Sacred Heart School in Templeton. He then attended Kemper High School, graduating with the Class of 1973. Mike completed a program in Ag Mechanics at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs before starting to work for Puck Implement in Manning.
On July 24, 1982, Mike was united in marriage with Jean Adams at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal. They were the parents of two children and lived on a farm near Templeton. After 10 years with Puck's, Mike started farming in the Templeton area, eventually doing custom work and seasonal work as a truck driver for Garst Seed Company at Mt. Carmel.
In his younger years Mike enjoyed participating in Figure 8 Racing. For 12 years he was a 4-H Leader for the Aspinwall Achievers.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin and sister-in-law, Nancy Adams.
Mike is survived by his wife, Jean Ferneding of Manning; daughter, Kelly Ferneding of Dallas, Texas; John Ferneding at home; mother, Rita Ferneding of Templeton; siblings: Lonnie Ferneding and wife, Betty of Manning, Gene Ferneding and wife, Mary of Carroll, Mary Kay and husband, Steve Schroeder of Kinsley, Jim Ferneding and wife, Joyce of Manning, Jane McNaught of Omaha, Neb.; Joni Warner and husband, Mike of Manning, and Mark Ferneding of Templeton; brother-in-law, Ned Adams and wife, Donna of Ankeny; and parents-in-law Harry and Naomi Adams of Milford.
