Funeral services for Bernice Kathleen Jackson, 99 of Spencer took place Monday, May 7, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Spencer. Rev. Ed Murray officiated the service.

Casket bearers were Bob Jackson, John Jackson, Don O'Brien, Tom O'Brien, Matt O'Brien, Ed Jackson, Jim Jackson and Joey Jackson.

Interment took place at North Lawn Memorial Park of Spencer.

Bernice passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2007 at Northshire Residence of Spencer.

Bernice, the daughter of James and Elizabeth Brennan, was born Aug. 17, 1907, in Emmetsburg. She received her early education in Emmetsburg where she graduated from high school in 1926. Bernice attended Iowa State Teachers College where she received her teaching certificate. She then taught country school in the Graettinger area.

On June 16, 1932, Bernice married Robert Roland Jackson at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. They spent the early years of their marriage in Ida Grove, before moving to Spencer in 1937. Bernice was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of America where she held various offices.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roland on Aug. 22, 1987; two sons: William and Robert; one grandson, Danny; six sisters and five brothers.

Bernice is survived by her daughter, Mary O'Brien and her husband, Thomas of Spencer; her son, James Jackson and his wife, Connie of Spirit Lake; two daughters-in-law: Melva Jackson of Lake City, and Mary Jackson of Spencer; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, James Clark of Chicago, Ill.; and two sisters-in-law: Ruth Brennan and Betty Brennan -- both of Emmetsburg.

Warner Funeral of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
