Minnie Scharnberg, 95, of Hartley passed away Sunday, April 29, 2007, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley.
Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley. Rev. Jeff Filkins will officiate the 11 a.m. service. Burial will be in Lone Tree Cemetery in Everly.
Casket bearers include Mark Scharnberg, Mike Scharnberg, Matt Kloeckner, Steve Finnie, Brad Tesch, Tim Lehman and Brian Evans.
Mrs. Scharnberg, the daughter of Fred and Annie (Krebs) Jager, was born Aug. 29, 1911, in Hartley. Her childhood years were spent in Hartley, where she received her education, graduating from Hartley High School in 1930.
She married Arlo Scharnberg on Jan. 12, 1932, at the First Congregational Church in Spencer. Following their marriage, the couple continued to live in Hartley, where she helped out on the family farm.
She was an active member of the Trinity United Church of Christ as well as the Ladies Dorcas Society. Mrs. Scharnberg was also a member of the Federated Klio Club in Hartley, as well as a member of the Cousin's Card Club for over 60 years.
Mrs. Scharnberg was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Arlo Scharnberg; two brothers: Otto and Elmer Jager; two sisters: Elsie Baumeister and Emma Paulson; and an infant son, Gary Lee Scharnberg.
She is survived by a daughter, Peggy Tesch, and her husband, Robert, of Storm Lake; a son, Jerry Scharnberg, and his wife, Sandra, of Hartley; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Eldo Scharnberg, of Spencer; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
