Funeral services for Tom Krout, 57, of Spencer, will be held today, Friday, April 20, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer. The Rev. Tom Dettmer will officiate the 10:30 a.m. service. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer. Mr. Krout passed away Monday, April 16, 2007, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
Casket bearers Jim Krout, Mark Rebhuhn, Tony Hallett, Brian Boyanovsky, Larry Lee and Jerry Peterson.
Honorary bearers will be Nels Overgaard, Christian Overgaard, Michael McKenna and Andy Pickhinke.
Thomas, the son of Clarence "Bud" and Bessie North Krout, was born Nov. 21, 1949, in Storm Lake. His childhood years were spent in Marathon, where he received his education, graduating from Marathon High School in 1968. Following high school he continued to live in Marathon and worked at HyGrade in Storm Lake for 13 years.
Tom married Cherilyn Renee Rasch on Oct. 20, 1984, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Newell. Following their marriage, they remained in Marathon for five years until moving to Spencer in 1990, where he worked for Dick Hallett Construction. He later worked in the maintenance department at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer until his health forced him to retire.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Tom is survived by his wife, Cheri of Spencer; his children: Tyler and Leslie, both at home; one brother, Dick Krout and his wife, Judy of Storm Lake; two sisters: Betty Kuhn and her husband, Richard of Denison and Mary Peterson; his mother and father-in-law, Charlie and JoAnn Rasch; his grandmother-in-law, Hertha Griffel; and his brother's and sister's in law: Deb and Kaj Overgaard, Karla and Gary Pickhinke and Corey and Amy Rasch.
Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in the memory of Tom Krout.
