Funeral services for Earnest Laverne Larson, 88, of Spencer, will be held Friday, April 20, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer. The Rev. Tom Dettmer will officiate the 2 p.m. service. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.

Mr. Larson passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at Spencer Hospital.

Visitation will be begin at 5 p.m. today with the family present from 5 p.m.- 7 p.m.

Casket bearers will be Eric Erickson, Lisa Erickson and Carrie Erickson.

Ernest, the son of Otto J. and Manda Johnson Larson, was born Aug. 28, 1918 in Wallingford. He received his early education in the Wallingford school system. Ernest continued his education at the Kennedy School of Hairstyling in Des Moines and the Sioux City Barber College. He also attended the American Studio of Hair Fashion in Chicago. Following his schooling, he entered the military and served with the United States Coast Guard from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1946.

Ernie married Evelyn Kundtson on Nov. 28, 1949 in Jackson, Minn. Following their marriage, they made their home in Spencer, where he was co-owner of the Larson School of Hairstyling in Spencer and the La James College of Hairstyling in Ft. Dodge. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer. He was also an active member of the Golden K Kiwanis and the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Merlyn Larson.

Ernest is survived by his wife, Evelyn Larson of Spencer; one daughter, Kathleen Ann Andrews of Estherville; one grandson; two granddaughters; and two great-grandsons.

Warner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
