Funeral services for Allen Harry Ott, 93 of Spencer, formerly of Everly will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2007 at Bethany Lutheran Church of Spencer. Rev. Tom Dettmer will officiate the service.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. today with the family present from 4-6 p.m.

Interment will take place at Lone Tree Cemetery of Everly.

Casketbearers will be William A. Duncan, Samuel G. Fisk, Jeffrey A. Duncan, Jerry Scharnberg, Irvin Johnson and Mitchell Ott.

Honorary bearers will be Denise A. Ganpat, Kristin L. Fisk, Christopher Lee, Randy Lee, Robert Scharnberg, Ted Fischer, Knox Campbell, David Simington, Robert Madsen, Delbert Wieben and Ronnie Phillips.

In lieu of flowers, the family has designated memorials to Alzheimer's Association Big Sioux Chapter and to the Everly Country School.

Allen passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at St. Luke Lutheran Home of Spencer.

Allen, son of Harry and Lulu Scharnberg Ott, was born July 8, 1913 in Everly. His childhood years were spent in Everly.

Allen married Arleen Schroeder on April 3, 1937 in Davenport. They lived in Davenport, where he worked at the Rock Island Arsenal as a tool and die maker during WWII.  In 1946, they moved to northwest Iowa, where he farmed in the communities of Everly and Milford, before moving to Spencer. He was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church. Allen was active with the Lion's Club, Golden K Kiwanis and commissioner for the Clay County Conservation Board.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Emmert, Ervin and Waldo; and an infant grandson.

Allen is survived by his wife, Arleen of Spencer; son, Gaylon and wife, Sue of Mesa, Ariz.; two daughters: Marcia Duncan and husband, David of Alexis, Ill. and Sandra Fisk and husband, Don of Galesburg, Ill.; five grandchildren; five great-grandsons; two step grandsons; five step-great-grandchildren; sister, Thora Grover; and sister-in-law, Anna Ott.
