Louie A. Holmberg, 94, of Estherville and formerly of the Dickens area passed away Monday, April 2, 2007, at his farmstead in rural Estherville.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 6, at Wallingford Lutheran Church in
Wallingford. The Rev. Tedd Rieke will officiate the 10:30 a.m. service. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Ruthven.
Mr. Holmberg, the son of Hans and Lena (Hanson) Holmberg, was born July 29, 1912, at Dickens. He received his education at a country school.
He was united in marriage to Anna Hanson on Feb. 18, 1938, in Spencer. The couple farmed near Dickens and Langdon before moving to their present farm south of Twelve Mile Lake in 1955. Anna died on Oct. 9, 2003.
He is survived by two sons, Lavern Holmberg and his wife Karlene of Shenandoah; Don Holmberg and his wife Sharon of Terril, two daughters, Delores Ness and her husband Bob of Estherville and Janet Sander and her husband Bill of Maplewood, Minn. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna, three brothers John, Nels and Carl and five sisters: Nellie, Anna, Carrie, Esther and Mayme.
