Richard passed away Saturday, March 24, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.
Interment will take place at Lost Island Lutheran Cemetery of Ruthven.
Richard, son of Samuel Henry and Mina (Holthouse) Kropf, was born May 31, 1928 in Ottosen. He received his education from Ottosen High School graduating on May 24, 1945.
Richard served in the United States Army during the Korean War being inducted on March 15, 1951 and honorably discharged on December 17, 1952.
On March 7, 1954 Richard was united in marriage to Lenora "Punky" Mae Skattebo at the Wallingford Lutheran Church. To this union four children were born. Richard was baptized and confirmed on March 13, 1955 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ottosen.
Richard was a self employed crop and dairy farmer near Ottosen until 1958 when he moved near Ruthven. He was a member of Lost Island Lutheran Church where he served as past president of the church council. He was a 43-year member of American Legion Post No. 33 and a life member of Disabled American Veterans, Great Lakes Area No. 59.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Mina Kropf; brothers: Harold Kropf and wife, Marge and Lowell Kropf and wife, Velma; a sister, Viola (Kropf) Wehring and husband, Donald; a sister-in-law, Verna Kropf; and a grandchild,.
Richard is survived by his wife, Lenora "Punky" of Ruthven; his children: Patricia (Kropf) Giffin and her husband, John of Bolckow, Mo., Sue (Kropf) Brown and her husband, Bill of Akron, Ronald Kropf and his wife, Sandy of Graettinger, and Cheryl (Kropf) Parrish and her husband, Tery of Tucson, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Marvin Kropf of Eugene, Oregon and Duane Kropf of Kimballton.
