Funeral services for Mrs. Ella Nielsen, 88 of Spencer will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 13, 2007 at Warner Chapel of Spencer. Rev. Tom Van Tassell will officiate the service.

Visitation will begin one hour prior to the services at the Warner Chapel.

Interment will take place at North Lawn Memorial Park of Spencer.

Casket bearers will be Mike Fischer, Chris Nielsen, Peggy Halverson, Angie Nielsen, Sarah Fischer and Jody Halverson.

Ella passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at Ruthven Care Center.

Ella Marjoria Nielsen, the daughter of Arthur Tillson and Valda Kristofferson Guthrie, was born Sept. 4, 1918 in Milford. Her childhood years were spent in Milford, where she received her education in Milford schools.

Ella married Donovan Irving Nielsen on Oct. 2, 1937 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Following their marriage, they lived in Spencer, where she cared for her family, while her husband operated Nielsen Tire and Appliance for many years. She was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a Sunday school superintendent. Ella also was a Cub Scout Leader and was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donovan in 1981; and her brothers and sisters: Mae, John, Louise, Ammert, Lena, Dean, Glenn and Bub.

Ella is survived by a son, Chris Nielsen and his wife, Sandi of Spencer; one daughter, Barbara Fischer and her husband, Michael of Spencer; three brothers: Lincoln and Milton Guthrie --  both of Milford, and Jim Guthrie of Spencer; two sisters: Florence Mize of Camarillo, Calif. and Marcelle Franker of Anthon; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
