Funeral services for Mr. Robert Martin Kunert, 69 of Spencer will be held at 10 a.m., today, Thursday, March 15, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Spencer. Rev. Ed Murray will officiate the service.

Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery of Spencer.

Robert passed away Sunday, March 11, 2007 at home.

Casket bearers will be Ronnie Fay, Bill Craig, Bill Gerdeman, Dennis Linn, Steve Thomas, Joe Mann and Joe Froiland.

Honorary bearers will be Mark Krukow, Larry McKeever, Rick Curry, Al Johnson and Bob's Saturday Morning Coffee Buddies.

Robert, the son of Edward Herman and Marie McNalley Kunert, was born April 28, 1937 in Emmetsburg. His childhood years were spent in Emmetsburg, where he received his education at St. Ellen's Catholic School, moving to Spencer, in 1943, where he attended Sacred Heart Schools through the eighth grade. His class was the first eighth grade class to graduate from the new school. He then attended Spencer High School.

Bob married Lorelei Jean Hallcock on Feb. 25, 1956 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer and they made their home in Spencer. He was a master craftsman in housing, construction and woodworking, as well as a self-made engineer. For 23 years, he worked as a foreman for Freeburg Construction before going into business for himself, specializing in cabinet making and vintage home restoration.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Joseph; an infant brother, Ronald; a sister, Gwen Swenson; a nephew, Tom Curry and three brother-in-law's.

Robert is survived by his wife, Lorelei Jean of Spencer; his children: Bev Krukow and Rick Hess of Webb, Steve Kunert and wife, Nancy Kunert of Cedar Rapids, William (Bill) Kunert and wife, Cindy of Spencer, Robin Miller and husband, Brian of Loveland, Colo., Dawn Hrabak and husband, Nick of Cedar Rapids, and Brian Kunert and wife, Glenda of Evans, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters: Lorraine Fay of Wallingford, Geraldine Curry of Estherville, and Darlene Curry of Spencer; and sister-in-law, Gloria Kunert of New Jersey.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
