Funeral services for Larry Koch, 65 of Mitchell, S.D. were held on Monday, March 12, 2007 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mitchell.
Interment took place at Graceland Cemetery.
Larry passed away March 7, 2007, at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Larry, son of Clair and Verna (Dahl) Koch, was born Nov. 18, 1941 in on a farm south of Lake Preston, S.D. He attended country school in the Lake Preston area and later graduated from Lake Preston High School in 1959. Larry attended college at South Dakota State University in Brooking, SD and then Huron University in Huron. After his schooling, Larry farmed with his father.
Larry was united in marriage with Janice Stewart on Dec. 10, 1963 in Pipestone, Minn. The couple farmed near Hetland, S.D., later moving to Minnesota. The couple then returned to Lake Preston, and then moved to Spencer in 1972. In 1979 they made their home in Mitchell. Larry was currently employed as an insurance producer for Avera Select.
Larry was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Moose Lodge. He coached youth athletics for several years. Larry also announced the South Dakota State Amateur Baseball Tournament.
He was preceded in death by his son, Shane in 1981; his father; and his father-in-law.
Larry is survived by his wife, Janice of Mitchell; two children: Steve Koch and his wife, Maureen, Mitchell, and Shawn Miles and her husband, Jim -- all of Mitchell; four grandchildren; his mother, Verna Koch, Lake Preston; two brothers, Gary Koch and his wife, Pat, Florida, and Bruce Koch and his wife, Pat -- all of Florida; one sister, Kay Anderson and her husband, Ronald, Lake Preston; and his mother-in-law, Nellie Stewart, Lake Preston.
