Therma F. Kiepe, 83, of Ute, passed away Saturday Feb. 24, 2007 at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007 at St. Paulıs Lutheran Church in Ute. Rev. Edward Brandt officiate the service.

Visitation will be held after 2 p.m. today. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. all at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute.

Interment will be at St. Clair Cemetery at Ute.

Therma Florence Kiepe, daughter of Henry Peter and Alma Marie (Mahler) Kunze was born Jan. 8, 1924 in Ute. She was baptized Feb. 10, 1924 at St. Paulıs Lutheran Church in Ute by Pastor Krag and confirmed in the Lutheran faith April 3, 1938 at St. Paulıs by Pastor Hugo Nieting.

She attended grade school at the Ute Public School, eighth grade at St. Paulıs Parochial School and graduated from Ute High School in 1942. She attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, and taught the Mordhorst School for two years.

She was united in marriage to Sgt. Martin C. Kiepe, Sept. 3, 1944 by Rev. Hugo Nieting. They lived at Edgewood Arsenal, Md. where Martin was stationed. She was employed in the Administration Building, as a clerk typist. They returned to Ute after World War II ended. Martin died Nov. 9, 1986. Five children were born to this union.

She was a Catechism, Sunday School and Bible Class teacher for many years. She did substitute teaching in the Ute Public School, Charter Oak-Ute Consolidated School, Mapleton, and Soldier Schools.

She had been an assistant Girls 4-H Leader to Jenette Johnson and Assistant City Clerk to Helene Mordhorst and was appointed Bicentennial Chair Woman of the town of Ute by Mayor Archie Mahoney.

She was a member of St. Paulıs Lutheran Church, Church Choir, L.W.M. L., Lydia Circle and the Adult Bible Class at St. Paulıs.. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Aaby Unit 442 of Ute, and the Ute Senior Citizens.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbandıs parents; her husband; two brothers; four brothers-in-law two sisters-in-law; one infant niece; and two nephews.

Survivors include two daughters: Diane Riddle and husband, Myron of Kearney, Neb. and Donna Waterbury and husband, Tom of Alton; three sons: Terry Kiepe and his wife, Diane, Donny Kiepe and his wife, Trish --  both of Spencer and Troy Kiepe and his wife, Mindy of Royal; eight grandchildren; step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers: Wilbur Kunze and wife, Helen of Mapleton, and Henry Kunze and wife, Coreen of McMinnville, Ore.; three sisters: Ardis Behen of Gardena, Calif., Helen Stanzyk of Carroll, Iand Patricia Rude and her husband, Marvin of Morris, Ill.; a brother-in-law, Ervin Kiepe and his wife, Kathy of Ute; and a sister-in-law, Arlene Kiepe of Mapleton.
