In this business, there are weeks when, based on the activities scheduled in the community, you have a pretty good idea about the direction your stories will take. And some of those weeks, people walk through the door and throw you a curve ball. This was one of those weeks. In Thursday's Daily Reporter, I was able to share the tale of an Independent candidate for Iowa's U.S. Senate seat who is biking across the state and will be traveling on RAGBRAI to get his message out to voters. Was an interesting guy to meet and a fun story to share. Just a few minutes ago, I sat down with a local Spencer resident who attended Reynolds School and shared some memories of his years as a student there and as a young man growing up in Spencer during that time. I smiled as I listened to him share life from a simpler time. I'm looking forward to telling his tale in Saturday's edition.
