  • Why not, he earned them. He's an animal. I guess it depends on what defines greatness in one's opinion.

  • Why is this so special? He is in multiple swimming events and styles. So duh.... he is going to build up a collection after 3 Olympics. Unlike say volleyball or basketball. They are only going for one medal. They NEVER have the chance to win 19 medals. Unless they are that fabulous where they can play for the U.S. for 19 Olympics. So really those medals don't seem so special to me and I find the commercial annoying for that reason. I will say though...he is an amazing swimmer. Wonder where the commercials are for the men's archery team that took home the silver, judo got a bronze, shooting has 2 gold's (Kim Rhode became the first US Olympian to medal in five straight Olympics and set an Olympic record hitting 99 of her 100 targets.), cycling has a gold, and there are even more that I have heard nothing about.

It just bothers me that he is getting all this attention when the sport he is in has given him the opportunity to have the honor to have that many medals. I don't see all the excitement over any other medal winners and their accomplishments (big or small). Where is their commercial about their wins? Yeah, him winning is amazing but to have that over shadow other Olympians is just wrong. I'm sure there are first time Olympians that have set records, won medals, and just plain did some amazing things this year. Or ones that tried to win medals in past years but never have that are still doing better than ever before on a personal level. Maybe even finally got that medal.

  • He is the greatest Olympic Swimmer of all time but I wouldn't attach the title of Greatest Olympian to any one athlete. A different set of talents is attached to each activity and they all take hard work and dedication. I love watching the Olympics and wish I could see all of it.
