Tragedy begs the question why?Posted Friday, July 20, 2012, at 3:27 PM
I'm not going to call the Colorado shooter crazy. That plays right into his defense strategy. And besides, anybody who would plan a midnight shooting massacre at a family movie theater obviously isn't right. But don't be fooled, he knew very well what he was doing and had taken time to plan it out. He had time enough to rig his apartment with explosives or at the very least make it look like it's rigged to blow for eyes belonging to trained demolitions experts. This man was simply disturbed and wishing to have his name somehow tied to the Batman story forever. He got what he wanted. In case you're wondering why, his name will forever be synonymous with The Dark Knight Rises. He's in the headlines for the cowardly stunt he pulled which is what he wanted. And he will remain there for quite some time. That's why I refuse to use his name or provide him with a "cool" nickname to sport as he wades through our often layered and twisted court and correctional system. To me, he's just another scumbag who chose to slaughter innocent people and deserves no more dignity or special handling than a rabid dog. My prayers go out to the families of the victims, as well as his family, as they attempt to cope with the tragic events.
