The Grammys: Adele vs MinajPosted Monday, February 13, 2012, at 11:10 AM
Adele and Nicki Minaj proved once again Sunday night that ability can prevail against showmanship.
Coming off surgery to her vocal cords, Adele received a standing ovation following her simple on-stage performance, demonstrating her amazing vocal talent in the wake of her medical procedure.
She did something that's rarely done on these live award shows anymore, she actually sang. She stood there and belted out "I Could Have Had It All," answering all questions about her abilities.
On the other side of the coin, Minaj assaulted viewers with an inflammatory performance of "Roman Holiday," depicting an exorcism an including erie chanted lines from "Come All Ye Faithful."
I wasn't surprised by Minaj's act. She's know for being a bit "over the top," but this was offensive on a variety of levels - perhaps what she was going for.
In any event, the night's outcome paid tribute to the true talent. Adele left the stage with six awards; Minaj, well she left the stage.
