What did I learn on our family vacation this year? Well our kids are older so they sleep more. Illinois, Indiana & Ohio look a LOT like Iowa. Pennsylvania does not. It is all mountains and forest. Beautiful. The Pro Football Hall of Fame was cool but really at $22/adults and $18/kids a bit ridiculous. With all the money that the NFL generates it should be free. Hotel pools are unnecessary but the breakfast is not. I found out that I'm a bit emotional about the history of our nation. Valley Forge, the Liberty Bell, the World War II Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington Cemetary made me cry. It was sad to witness the preparation for the 4th of July festivities in D.C. when fireworks shows at miliary bases across the country were being cancelled due to budget cuts. St. John Neumann, the little bishop loved the poor and his church is truly a holy place. I felt God's presence there. The Amish do exist and I think I would like to live with them for a week sometime. The Jersey Shore is more about fun and families and less about Snooki. And the best part was seeing my children meet again their cousins on their Dad's side and the fun they had getting to know each other. They played soccer, hula hooped, sang, laughed, and even cried some in the end. It was amazing. Plans are being made to meet halfway and this time it won't be 8 years down the road.
