What part of STOP do you not understand?Posted Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at 10:22 AM
I use 4th St. W near the new bypass everyday, sometimes multiple times a day. I am a wife of 22 years, mom to 6 and grandma to 3. I am daycare mom to 8. They all depend on me in one way or another. The couple down the street have 2 kids in college. One is a soldier. She is a faith filled church secretary and he is a community handyman who always has time for everyone. Another family to the West of us have 2 kids in college. He is a business owner and she a bookkeeper. People love them and depend on them. Then there are the kids who drive that road every morning on their way to school. What's my point?
Every morning and evening we all get in our cars and drive on 4th St West into town or back out of town. Sometimes we are running or biking on that stretch of road and there is no trail for us. Twice in the past 3 days as I approached the new bypass near the Sheriff's substation a semi trailer has run the stop sign. Both times there was no slowing down, no yielding, no brakes just rolled right on thru in spite of the traffic crossing in front of him.
We all use that road. The stop signs are for everyone no matter how big your vehicle is. We all have people who depend on us. We all want to continue living. It makes me angry and it makes me cautious. And I know that if you are running the stop signs there, you are running them everywhere. Please, please, please obey the traffic laws. They were written for our safety and yours. So please when you come to that stop sign and think about not stopping, think about Leah & Randy, Howard & Alyce, Doug & Terri and Hunter, Lexi, Katie, Paxton, Chance, Austin, Kelsey and all the rest who are affected by the decisions you make.

My name is Leah Cauthron. I was born and raised on a farm near Cushing, Iowa. My parents still live there. I am a conservative Catholic. I have been married to Randy for 22 years and we have six children. I received my degree in Criminal Justice from Eastern Wyoming College and as a mother of six and a daycare mom, I have used probable cause, reasonable doubt, search and seizure, Miranda rights, submission, arrest and interrogation technique as a part of my daily life. I can also shoot a .357 magnum with deadly accuracy. I have lots of opinions on lots of things. I am not an expert on anything but I read a lot and will gladly share that information if I find it accurate. I have a sarcastic nature and for the most part I have pretty thick skin and most things don't bother me for long. I don't like mudslinging or name calling so keep negativity of the personal nature to yourself. Enjoy and welcome to my opinion.
