STOLEN

Posted Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at 4:33 PM

I have a daughter named Skye. She is 13 yrs old and in 7th grade at Spencer Middle School. She loves to play basketball. She's been playing since around November with a separated shoulder. She's tough. Around New Years she was diagnosed with Mono and told that she would be unable to play her 7th grade season. She was devastated. We made her rest and treated her with natural herbal remedies. About 2 weeks ago, she was cleared to play.

Skye babysits on the weekends. With the money she earned she recently purchased a black Adidas backpack. It has hot pink handles. She used it on the day of her first basketball game back, last week. When she went into the locker room at the Middle School prior to her game, her things were dumped all over the floor and her bag was gone. Someone in the Middle School had no regard for someone that they brush shoulders with every day. Someone in the Middle School had no respect for a classmate. Someone stole her bag.

Please return it. I don't care how. Leave it at the office or in the lost and found. Hang it on her locker or give it to one of her friends. If you see a friend with it and you know they didn't have one before, ask them about it. Talk them into returning it. If your child comes home with one and you didn't purchase it, ask them how they got it. Do what's right. Just return it and don't do it again.

Aww. How disappointing. I do hope someone does the right thing and returns it. How graceful of you to have a no questions asked attitude about it. That's right, whoever you are -- return it to the office or to one of her friends and say you found it -- which is true to an extent. You may still have it on your conscience, but returning it is a big step to making things right.

My name is Leah Cauthron. I was born and raised on a farm near Cushing, Iowa. My parents still live there. I am a conservative Catholic. I have been married to Randy for 22 years and we have six children. I received my degree in Criminal Justice from Eastern Wyoming College and as a mother of six and a daycare mom, I have used probable cause, reasonable doubt, search and seizure, Miranda rights, submission, arrest and interrogation technique as a part of my daily life. I can also shoot a .357 magnum with deadly accuracy. I have lots of opinions on lots of things. I am not an expert on anything but I read a lot and will gladly share that information if I find it accurate. I have a sarcastic nature and for the most part I have pretty thick skin and most things don't bother me for long. I don't like mudslinging or name calling so keep negativity of the personal nature to yourself. Enjoy and welcome to my opinion.
