  • What I like about your memories, Leah, is that I can so easily imagine myself in them. Heck, I can walk outside, take a whiff of the air (during any type of season...thanks Iowa!) and the scents will send my mind off into a beautiful nostalgic tangent.

Although I do have many fond memories of material items (music, books, movies, Nintendo, junk food (ha ha), etc.), I feel that experiencing nature and ALL it has to offer is essential to a healthy, colorful and grateful existence.

Ah, I could type all day about this...but I think it's time to get off the computer and rake some leaves! ;)

  • Oh, and the best part about passing it on to younger generations is the guarantee that you'll STILL be experiencing these great things at 25, 35, 45, 55...85, 95!

  • Leah, you obviously have plenty of wonderful memories about growing up in rural Iowa and the ability to write about them... why don't you consider submitting something for the next Midwest anthology? Titled Sowing Wild Oats, the deadline for submissions is March 31, 2012.
