Chasing 4 Life @ the Library

Posted Friday, April 15, 2011, at 2:58 PM

Chasing4Life founder Eddy Weiss shows off his storm-chasing vehicle and other equipment used in monitoring severe weather.
Spencer Public Library is gearing up for severe weather and looking forward to our upcoming visit with Chasing4Life on Monday, April 25th. We are excited to announce that C4L will be presenting an extra show that morning. At 10:30 am young kids are invited to a very special "Purple Tornado Storytime". Preschoolers and early elementary school-aged kids will find out how radar works, how tornadoes are like two year olds and why storm chasing is important. They'll learn about how tornadoes grow and what they look like, and most importantly, how we can protect ourselves in the face of severe weather! So stop into the library and check out our books, DVDs, and other materials on severe weather to prepare yourselves. And don't forget to bring your families in for the Chasing4Life program that evening at 7:30pm.

Oh, and one more thing. We will be having an Egg Hunt at the library this Friday, April 22nd beginning at 11:00am. The kids will be divided by age into three groups (Toddlers, Preschool-Kindergarten, and 1st-3rd) so everyone has an equal chance at finding some goodies! Happy Spring!

We are your local librarians: keepers of the books, defenders of liberty, and superheroes in disguise. We DON'T read all day and we rarely stamp books. We catalog, process, publicize, market, investigate, experiment, deliver, promote, teach, and encourage. We come from a variety of backgrounds, enjoy our daily interactions with the public, and we are here to serve you.
