Apparently, bikes are prohibited from being used on the skate park arena. I was just wondering.....what harm is being done here that surveillance is necessary let alone justifiable in funding? Let the skaters and bikers co-exist together. I've witnessed bike tricks at this very park... Tue, 19 Aug 2014 08:52:43 -0500 Uganda? You Gotta be kidding me is right http://www.spencerdailyreporter.com/blogs/leeceyplus3/entry/57576 I went to the library as always searching for a good read. Instead, I found myself in the writing section picking up books to help improve my writing capabilities. On the way out, I caught sight of a book with Chelsea Handler. I used to be a fan of hers for her talk show Chelsea Lately, but her mouth proved to be much more filth than I could handle. Not to mention her ego was helping her sell out in my opinion but hey happens to everyone in the biz right? I noticed at the top of this new book,... Sun, 23 Mar 2014 11:36:07 -0500 The Feeling of Christmas http://www.spencerdailyreporter.com/blogs/leeceyplus3/entry/56342 As a child Christmas was excitable for obvious reasons.....presents! Of course, growing up I was taught the underlying messages of what Christmas actually meant such as: Jesus's birth, being thankful, the joys of giving, and spending time with family and friends. However, these important meanings behind the season did not alter my careful planning of much desired items I expected to receive. I didn't always get what I wanted but I was sure to guilt "Santa Clause" to make certain I received a... Sun, 15 Dec 2013 15:44:24 -0600 A Smile in Unexpected Places http://www.spencerdailyreporter.com/blogs/leeceyplus3/entry/55239 I learned a valuable lesson last night. Everyday there is always an opportunity to make someone smile. I was at the Lazer Car Wash across from Spencer late last night and spent an impressive 10 minutes making my truck look as beautiful as I possible could. After a job well done, I pulled forward and waited for the door to open. Nothing happened..... I drove a little bit more forward almost hitting the door... Nothing happened...... I backed up thinking perhaps the other door... Thu, 03 Oct 2013 12:00:35 -0500 Pocket Knives On Planes? http://www.spencerdailyreporter.com/blogs/leeceyplus3/entry/52153 It's kind of strange that a heated debate going on right now would include whether to let people carry knives onto a plane or not? Is it just me or does this sound like the dumbest question I have ever heard in my life? Granted pocket knives have their limitations and are more common in pockets than actual money but they are what they are: Knives. Now the issue at hand is that certain lawmakers feel that more time should be focused on bomb detection rather than countless hours taking away... Fri, 15 Mar 2013 14:28:30 -0500 Are you Serious? http://www.spencerdailyreporter.com/blogs/leeceyplus3/entry/51035 How is it possible that Americans have become so greedy and hungry for the almighty dollar that they forget to behave like decent human beings? A new lawsuit has come forward in the Connecticut shooting. An unidentified client is taking legal action in the demands of $100 million dollars because " the client (child) heard cursing, screaming, and shooting over the intercom when the gunman opened fire and as a consequence the child has sustained emotional and psychological trauma and injury, the... Sat, 29 Dec 2012 20:13:35 -0600 A few thoughts on Connecticut shooting http://www.spencerdailyreporter.com/blogs/leeceyplus3/entry/50826 I'm sure the news of the recent tragedy that occurred today has reached every ear across the United States. It's something this country, every community, and certainly every parent deems their worst nightmare come true. Even those who have no children feel the heartbreaking pain that this senseless mess has left for the poor souls who must face this event as their reality. While there are no words that can truly express the pain, sorrow, and sympathy that this shooting has created across our... Sat, 15 Dec 2012 02:28:30 -0600 Magic Mike Weekend!!! http://www.spencerdailyreporter.com/blogs/leeceyplus3/entry/48416 Oh, magic, magic, wonderful magic Mike! I have to say that I am one of the millions (I'm assuming) women who will be at the movie theater this weekend to attend a movie I will tell my family is a documentary on monkeys. With actors like Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey stripping down and doing a little dance for my entertainment, how could I not go spend those dollar bills? This movie will prove to be the closest I'll ever get to adult entertainment and a wonderful excuse for a girls... Fri, 29 Jun 2012 14:13:45 -0500 NO MORE REMAKES http://www.spencerdailyreporter.com/blogs/leeceyplus3/entry/48166 Remake, after remake, after remake! Where does it end? It seems as though we can no longer push our imaginations farther than where they have already gone....Or maybe that's just because the same writers are being used. Personally, I feel as though they have squeezed every ounce of juice from "reputable" writers in the "Hollywood biz" and now the only thing left is remakes. Or perhaps, Hollywood writers make such huge money for their work; they no longer have the ambition to put forward any... Wed, 13 Jun 2012 12:08:12 -0500 President Obama's New Position 2012 http://www.spencerdailyreporter.com/blogs/leeceyplus3/entry/47659 President Obama is about to release an interesting statement tonight on ABC news in an interview. As most of you have heard it's a statement regarding his new approval or position on same sex marriage. While most around the country will be in cheerful appraisal of Mr. Obama's position, I know this will cause an uproar among those more on the conservative side; like I dunno let's say Iowa. We are the state, if I remember right that kicked 3 judges out of office because of gay marriage approval.... Thu, 10 May 2012 08:41:27 -0500 In Honor of Kenneth James Weishuhn http://www.spencerdailyreporter.com/blogs/leeceyplus3/entry/47310 Becoming a parent is one of the greatest gifts that anyone can ever experience. As you're looking down at your baby, counting his fingers, stroking his hair, and holding him close you can't help but wonder how is it that you can love someone so much that till that day you never had officially met. Baby comes home and life has new meaning. You are a mother, this is your child, your little buddy, the greatest love of your life and you can't help but smile with admiration at your seemingly perfect... I have come to educate and clear up the mass confusion of seeing random dancers. Ellen DeGeneres has issued a "dance dare" to her audience. The dare is to capture yourself or others dancing behind people without them realizing what you are doing. That video then can be uploaded to You Tube where Ellen herself views them and places the best ones on her... Wed, 08 Feb 2012 09:59:12 -0600 A questionable Senior picture http://www.spencerdailyreporter.com/blogs/leeceyplus3/entry/45656 Remember Senior Pictures? Believe it or not this was a Senior picture submitted by Sydney Spies of Colorado. For obvious reasons not understood by this wannabe future Playboy pictorial, the editors of the High School decided not to allow this for her senior picture in the yearbook. This 18 year old is stunned as to "Why" it is not allowed and argues that she has the right to freedom of expression. To be clear, Freedom of Expression is defined as " The right to express one's ideas and opinions... Sat, 07 Jan 2012 17:36:02 -0600 Wrapping Christmas Cheer http://www.spencerdailyreporter.com/blogs/leeceyplus3/entry/45461 Christmas season is filled with all kinds of wonderful traditions. Making cookies, decorating the tree, driving around to look at the pretty Christmas lights, and visiting Santa. These kinds of things are expected every year and make Christmas fun and cheerful for everyone. However, this year we decided that Christmas needed something extra special. Something never done before for someone special to complete a perfect Christmas season. What better than a Christmas Prank! We decided to honor... Tue, 27 Dec 2011 14:52:38 -0600 Dear Rick Perry http://www.spencerdailyreporter.com/blogs/leeceyplus3/entry/45215 I thought about writing some cute, Christmas gift exchange blog full of new ideas for families looking for new budget friendly games to play because "Tis the season" right? Wrong! I was abruptly halted by an obscene political advertisement that really chaps my khakis. Not to mention this same man will appear in Spencer on Saturday. Yes, I'm talking about Rick Perry. This blog is now made in a state of urgency to appeal to all who will "swoon" over this Presidential hopeful. For those of you... Tue, 13 Dec 2011 21:29:30 -0600 Northwest Iowa's guide to Mountain Lions http://www.spencerdailyreporter.com/blogs/leeceyplus3/entry/45107 There's a buzz going around of possible Mountain Lions in Northwest Iowa. One picture circulating Facebook, which was taken by a trail camera, shows a large cat attacking a Buck. Everyone seems to be excited yet scared of what this new possibility may mean for us small town Iowans. I've done some research and good news people, there's no need to fear. This Mountain Lion threat does have some positive aspects. Let's review. 1. A Mountain Lions preferred diet is deer, elk, livestock, and... Wed, 07 Dec 2011 18:25:34 -0600 Black Friday at Wal-Mart in Spencer Iowa http://www.spencerdailyreporter.com/blogs/leeceyplus3/entry/44986 As a mother of three small children, Black Friday is an excellent opportunity to purchase toys, pajamas, and appliances at affordable low prices. As a faithful black Friday shopper, you check your ads, make a list, call in reinforcements to ensure you cover the entire store, and show up to your destinations hours before sale time. This year however, I was not the shopper, I was the family reinforcement to grab an item for a cousin. Wal-Mart was our destination and on that Thursday night we... Thu, 01 Dec 2011 16:22:50 -0600
