Sydney Spies choice for Senior Picture
Remember Senior Pictures? Believe it or not this was a Senior picture submitted by Sydney Spies of Colorado. For obvious reasons not understood by this wannabe future Playboy pictorial, the editors of the High School decided not to allow this for her senior picture in the yearbook. This 18 year old is stunned as to "Why" it is not allowed and argues that she has the right to freedom of expression. To be clear, Freedom of Expression is defined as " The right to express one's ideas and opinions freely through speech, writing, and other forms of communication." What is it exactly that she is trying to express? Her bold choice of substituting a scarf for a shirt expresses many different things that are not exactly appropriate for a high school student. What is most astonishing about this story is not that she is protesting and seeking a lawyer, its that her mother stands right beside her holding up signs in front of the school. One can only question what other parental guidance is lacking from this young ladies life. Let's just hope for the benefit of everyone that while they protest their cause, that both of them chose to at least put a shirt on!
