"Boomer" by Mandy
I received the most most beautiful gift! It is a watercolor portrait of Boomer as seen in in the above picture. It is beautifully done and is the exact likeness of his features. But the very best part is that it was created by someone that never even met Boomer.
In fact, it was by fate that I ever met Mandy. If you recall, a couple of years ago I volunteered at Villalobos Rescue Center shortly after they moved to New Orleans. It was here that I met Mandy along with about a dozen other pit bull loving ladies. While our volunteer experience was nothing to brag about, these ladies are some of the most dedicated advocates for animals I've had the pleasure of meeting. They come from all walks of life with one simple common denominator.
We shared stories, dreams, and promises, but you never know exactly how you will keep that connection strong with so many miles separating all of you.
Mandy has been the glue that has kept us together. It is just her nature. She has fought to reunite the group and I am happy to say she has succeeded! Many will be headed to Washington DC to participate in the One Million Pibble March on May 3rd. I am sorry to say I will not be there, but know that these ladies will be representing.
I bounced a lot of ideas off of Mandy when working with Boomer and his fear. She has been a great source of information and continual support and encouragement.
What I continue to learn is, when you surround yourself with good people, you will be continually blessed. Thank you Mandy for the heartfelt momento, and to all of my VRC gal pals for being part of my circle of rescue/animal advocate friends.
