Dodger is available for adoption at the Humane Society in Milford, IA.
My house just seems empty without the clicking of numerous toenails running across the hardwood floor. No, I'm not completely petless, but for some reason I always feel like I need to be taking one in that needs a little human compassion.
While I love fostering, it can be a huge commitment of time. Let's face it, they depend on you for care and if you are not there, they have no one to feed, exercise, and bond with. I decided that I wanted to become a little getaway place for dogs in shelters. Some place that they can go to get away for a little bit. A shelter can be a very stressful place for an animal. This in turn can cause them to become ill, self destructive, or even shutdown. No one is particularly interested in adopting a dog that's sick, or hiding in the corner.
Dodger is an adorable little terrier of some sort (fox or rat I think). He reminds me of my very first terrier Ricky. They are fun, sturdy little dogs with big personalities. They are intelligent, energetic, and are up for any adventure. Dodger is no exception. He's been at the shelter for over a month and was in need of exercise and people time. I will also be able to report how he does in a home environment. He is quite well behaved. He is house and crate trained with the exception of the initial mark that all boys seem to leave. He happily goes in his kennel to sleep at night or relax during the day while I'm at work. He is not loud, destructive or has any sort of anxiety issues. He plays well with small dogs, can entertain himself with a bone, toy or blanket, and finds the cats interesting. He walks well on a leash while wearing his harness and even knows a couple of commands.
Since Dodger was a stray, the shelter did not know much about him. I'm happy to be able to report back to them that he's a great little dog that would work in about any family. And all I had to do was take him on a little vacation to my home.
