  • I don't know what to think, Stephanie. My first thought was that it's good to hear about a shelter that isn't nearing collapse under the weight of being over-full with animals. But, as you wisely pointed out, it really just means that in other shelters healthy animals are being euthanized for lack of space to keep them. It doesn't make sense.

    To answer your question: A mostly empty shelter is a good thing. But ONLY if ALL of the shelters are mostly empty.

  • Just this week The Siouxland Humane Society posted on their Facebook page that if anyone was considering surrendering their dog, now would be a good time as they were in need of dogs to adopt out. Bring them now before they are full again.

    Who in their right mind says this? Encouraging people to surrender their animal? When will there be educated people running these facilities!?! Ugh...
