Fellow Iowan gets T'd onPosted Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at 9:15 PM
Tom Rauen, of Dubuque, gets some help putting on the record-breaking 247th T-shirt Friday evening. The record took less than two hours to claim.
To break the silence, I thought I'd share something fun. With the Iowa Caucuses only seven weeks away, I could easily put something political here. But, maybe, I'll save that for my column. Or maybe, I'll forgo politics overall. But today, I thought I'd share the accomplishment of a fellow Iowan. While 11-11-11 meant different things to different people, he decided to use the once in a lifetime day to break a world record. He didn't eat a massive amount of crickets or run miles on end barefoot. Nah, he found something he knew a bit about, T-shirts, and used that expertise to make a name for himself. Tom Rauen, of Envision Sports Design in Dubuque, donned 247 T-shirts, passing the previous record of 245 set by a Croatian last year. You can see the feat here. So, is this impressive or does Rauen just have too much time on his hands? I, for one, think this is pretty impressive and ingenious. Like I already said, he is in a world-renown book for something unique, even if some people think it's silly. He also got pub for his company and 365ink as evidenced here. Plus, it just seemed like a lot of fun. So, what do you think about his record? Do you know of other Iowans who have unique records? Overall, what records are memorable for you? Feel free to post links, videos, etc. below. |
