Presidential candidate doppelgangers: Any ideas?Posted Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at 3:05 PM
As I met presidential candidate,
A coworker is convinced that a better doppelganger for McCotter is John Waters
The conversation got me thinking of who other presidential candidates may look like.
Though she's not a declared candidate, we all know how much Sarah Palin looks like Tina Fey. (Or is it the other way around?)
What are some other doppelgangers?
Rick Santorum and Jerry Seinfeld?
Mitt Romney and one of the Baldwins?
Dare I say Newt Gingrich and a young Andy Rooney?
What do you think?

Michelle Bachmann and Carla Gugino from the Spy Kids Movies
Barack Obama and actor/rapper Nick Cannon
Tim Pawlenty and Jonathan Silverman from Weekend at Bernies movies and the '90s TV show The Single Guy
Rand Paul and James Spader? Hugh Laurie? Kiefer Sutherland? I thought he was running. Maybe it's just that he ran for Senate in '10. Very cute for a Tea Party guy. And no, I'm not confusing him with his dad...
Ron Paul and Fred Thompson
Becky Rusher. You know -- Becky Rusher -- the Independent. Of course she's a serious candidate! She's an Internet addict! She doesn't really have any religious views but she's ordained by the Universal Life Church, but that was a joke. She looks like Mary Pat Green, who's had memorable bit parts in practically everything since the '80s.
Wayne Allen Root -- Libertarian. Doppelganger? From the photo I saw, I think he looks like an accident of plastic surgery. Dick Clark??? He has some resemblance to Bill Clinton, when Bill Clinton was president, as opposed to now, but Bill has a much more honest look to him than Wayne. I actually mean that.
Robert Burck -- Independent -- The Naked Cowboy. Wow. I like him! He's fun! And not actually naked. Kind of a Jeff Daniels thing going on with a side of Woody Harrelson.
Republican Jimmy McMillan -- if he shaved, would have a serious Laurence Fishburne thing going on.
Militant pro-life, anti-LGBT candidate Randall Terry is running as a DEMOCRAT. Good luck with that buddy. He looks kind of like Bill Gates or like Judge Reinhold from the Beverly Hills Cop movies.
Christie Vilsack and the Mad Hatter or maybe Dr. Seuss
My bad, I meant Dr. Seuss' the Cat in the Hat and Christie Vilsack
Amy,
I can see most of the resemblances you mention, except Ron Paul and Fred Thompson. The only thing they have in common is they have both run for president. They have completely different builds, faces, etc. However, Ian McKellen does look like Ron Paul. The retiring Texas congressman is going to need some super powers to have any sort of chance, so maybe he should channel his inner Magneto.
Leah,
The last I checked, Christie Vilsack is not running for president and she rarely wears hats anymore. But, I guess she and the cat in the hat do have a similar posture and smile.
