Dear Mother Nature

Posted Saturday, October 10, 2009, at 8:25 AM

Dear Mother Nature,

As a resident of the Midwest, I am well aware of your wide range of weather abilities. I often wonder if you use us as test subjects, as we seem to get the craziest combinations of temperatures, precipitation, and wind.

I am writing on behalf of my child, and many other children out there. I remember once when I was a kid, there was a blizzard on Halloween. It made me very sad, as Halloween is a big thing to a lot of kids, and adults for that matter. I would like to avoid such disappointment for today's children if at all possible.

I would like to formally request that you hold off on any more snow until at least Thanksgiving. If it were up to me, I'd say leave the snow out of it all together! But, I know that some of the other residents might not agree, so perhaps we could compromise with mid-December?

Thanks! You are the best!

Your pal,

Aimee

Well, it has snowed twice since I wrote this, so apparently nobody is taking my opinions into consideration.

Don't knock the weather; nine-tenths of the people couldn't start a conversation if it didn't change once in a while.

Here is a great quote for us in the upper midwest:

I played as much golf as I could in North Dakota, but summer up there is pretty short. It usually falls on Tuesday. ~Mike Morley
